Driver Eligibility -
Under age 8 - Drivers under the age of 8 are ineligible to drive at GoKart
Age 8 - 11:
Drivers between 8 and 11 years old are eligible to drive our Kid Karts.
Age 12 - 18:
Unlicensed: who are under the age of 18 and do not have a drivers
license must complete Junior Driving School at GoKart Racer. After said
drivers completed Junior Driving School they receive their GoKart Racer
License and are eligible to drive with anyone at GoKart Racer.
Licensed: Drivers who are under the age of 18 and possess a drivers
license may race provided that a parent or legal guardian completes the
Age 18+ : All drivers over the age of 18 with valid government issued
identification are eligible to drive.
Liability Waiver -
All participants must provide valid personal information including:
- Full legal name
- Street Address, City, State, Zip Code
- Birth date
- Identification Card Number (See acceptable types of ID)
All information collected remains confidential and is used only for verification of
participant identity and administration of liability proceedings. All Participants
must agree to all terms and conditions set forth by the liability waiver and sign
in the presence of a GoKart Racer employee.
Required Equipment -
Participants MUST wear all of the below equipment while seated in the kart.
Helmets - All customer-supplied helmets must be full-faced with 100% clear
visors or goggles. All helmets must be labeled with DOT and/or SNELL 2000
or greater certification stickers. Any helmets not meeting these
requirements will not be allowed and the participant must use helmets
supplied by GoKart Racer.
Headsocks - Headsocks are required for all participants using GoKart
Racer-supplied helmets. Headsocks are optional only if the participant is
using his own helmet that complies with the above conditions.
Suits - All participants are required to wear racing suits while in the
track area. Personal suits maybe used provided that they are full length,
one-piece and constructed of an abrasion-resistant material.
Neck Supports - Neck Supports are required for participants and must be
worn at all times while in the kart.
Shoes - Flat, closed-toe, and closed-heel shoes are required. Loaner shoes
are available. Tennis shoes or sneakers are recommended. Sandals, Tevas,
Crocks, flip-flops, high heels or the like are prohibited.
Seatbelts - All karts at GoKart racer are fitted with four-point racing
harnesses. While seated in the kart all participants must wear the harness
with their arms inside the top straps, buckle secured and all straps tightened.
GoKart Racer enforces a zero-tolerance policy regarding the consumption of
alcohol and driving at our facility. If an employee has reasonable suspicions
that a driver is under the influence said driver must submit to a breathalyzer
test. Should the driver refuse to submit or should the test yield a value
greater than 0.00 the driver will not be allowed to drive, and will not
receive a refund.
Track Regulations -
Safety Briefing -All participants are required to attend a safety
presentation prior to driving for their first time at GoKart Racer.
Returning participants are not required to attend these presentations,
but may do so if they wish.
Personal Items - Personal items such as wallets, cell phones, PDAs,
and keys are prohibited in the track area. Cameras may be carried by
photographers who are not driving (see photography). Prohibited items
should be stored in lockers that are available in the locker rooms.
Admittance to the track - Only ticketed drivers are allowed in
the track area. The only exception to this is for photographers
Track Operations - For participant and employee safety the track
marshals are in charge of all track operations. Participants must obey
all track marshal instructions. Flags and signs are used throughout
the track to communicate with participants. The flags are as follows:
Green - Signals the start or restart of a race. When the green flag is
displayed drivers may drive as fast as they wish.
Yellow - Signals a caution. ALL drivers on the entire track must slow
to a walking pace and there is no passing.
Blue with yellow stripe - Signals that a faster driver is approaching
from behind. The driver who receives this flag should reduce his/her
speed and yield to the right. Once the faster driver(s) have passed
the driver who received the flag may resume racing.
Black - Signals that the driver is receiving a penalty. The driver
who receives it should pull into the penalty box the next time that
he/she passes it. Penalty escalation is a two-step process. The
first black flag that a driver receives is a verbal warning. If
the same driver receives another black flag he/she will be removed
from the session and will not receive a refund. Black flags are
administered for any safety issue, excessive contact or illegitimate
passes and kart malfunctions.
Red - Signals that the race has been stopped. This flag is used
in emergency situations only. All drivers must safely stop their
karts immediately and wait for marshal instructions.
White - Signals that one lap remains in the session. Drivers should
pass under this flag and drive one more full speed lap.
White and Black Checkered - Signals that the session is complete.
After drivers pass under this flag they must slow to a walking pace
and cease racing immediately. Yellow flags will be shown to the
drivers who have completed their final lap.
No Contact Sign - A sign reading “No Contact” will be shown to
drivers who are making contact with other drivers or the track
barriers. This sign serves as a warning that if contact continues
to occur, the drivers involved will receive the black flag.
Gas and Brake Sign - A sign reading “Gas and Brake” will be shown
to drivers who are suspected of depressing both pedals at the same
time. Drivers who continue to depress both pedals at the same
time may receive a black flag.
Obeying the above flags is not optional. If drivers do not obey the flags
the involved drivers will be removed from the session and will not receive
No Stopping - Drivers must remain in motion at all times while on the track
unless instructed by a track marshal or red flag to stop.
Stuck Driver - If a driver is stuck and unable to move he/she should raise
their right hand to signal a track marshal for assistance.
Kart Failure - If there is a problem with a kart the driver of that kart
should raise their right hand and proceed to the pits if possible.
Crash Damage - If a kart is deemed inoperable due to crash damage and
clear fault can be established the driver at fault will not receive a new kart and
no refund will be given.
Pit Rules - The speed limit in the pits is one (1) mile per hour and is
strictly enforced. Speeding in the pits may result in a stop-time penalty.
Wait for marshal instruction to exit the pit. If for any reason a driver needs
to enter the pit during a session he/she should raise their right hand to signal
that he/she is reducing speed.
Photography -Photographers are allowed in the track area on a case-by-case
basis. The track manager will allow this if he/she feels that it is safe.
If the track manager approves, photographers must sign a liability waiver
before being escorted to the track area. Once on track, the track manager
will set guidelines regarding where the photographer may stand and how long
they may remain in the track area.
Refunds - No refunds will be given for any rule violations.
Kart Operation -
Track marshals will start and shutoff the kart drivers should not attempt to do
this themselves. No driver should ever touch any part of the motor or clutch
casing. These components contain moving parts and are often hot.
Hand Position - While the kart is in motion drivers must keep both hands on
the steering wheel. It is recommended to grip the wheel at the ten and two
position for the entirety of the session.
Pedals - The brake pedal is on the left and the gas pedal in on the right.
Drivers use their left foot to depress the brake pedal and their right foot
to depress the gas pedal. Drivers must use the pedals independently of each
other - one foot at a time.
Pedal and Steering Wheel Reach - Our karts have the ability to
move the seats forward or backward to help make your racing experience
as comfortable as possible. Ask a staff member if you need help moving your seat.
